1. Question Development Process
Our assessment items are created through a structured domain-mapping process:
- Domain Definition: Mapping sub-facets of established psychological models (e.g., decomposing Conscientiousness into orderliness, industriousness, and self-discipline).
- Item Writing: Drafting clear, behavioral statements avoiding double-barreled questions, cultural jargon, or leading prompts.
- Keying Balance: Including both positively keyed and reverse-keyed statements to prevent acquiescence response bias.
- Clarity & Accessibility Review: Reviewing reading grade levels to ensure questions are clear and understandable for a general audience.
2. Pilot Testing Status
Our online assessments are currently in an ongoing educational pilot testing phase. User responses and completion feedback help us evaluate question clarity, completion rates, and item variability.
Items that demonstrate high ambiguity or inconsistent interpretation are iteratively re-worded or replaced during scheduled content updates.
3. Scoring Mechanics
Personalities Lens implements transparent scoring calculation methods:
- Likert Value Assignment: Scale values are assigned numerically (e.g. 1 to 5).
- Reverse Score Inversion: Reverse-keyed items are inverted automatically prior to aggregation:
score = (max_scale + 1) - raw_score. - Dimension Normalization: Cumulative scores are summed per trait dimension and converted to percentage spectrums relative to scale minimums and maximums.
4. Future Validation Roadmap
As Personalities Lens grows, we are committed to elevating our psychometric standards:
- Internal Consistency Testing: Publishing Cronbach's alpha ($\alpha$) reliability coefficients across questionnaire subscales.
- Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA): Conducting factor analyses on anonymized, aggregated pilot samples to confirm subscale factor structures.
- Item Response Theory (IRT): Evaluating item discrimination and difficulty parameters to optimize questionnaire brevity.
